To my Blackberry/Iphone/Android users

When I left Blackberry to join the Android Team I was very anxious and sad to lose my bbm (aka Blackberry Messenger). BBM is definitely the best feature that Blackberry has. You can chat with your fellow bbm users for free and without worrying about them being in another country. You can send each other multimedia files (music, documents, pictures, voice…). Bbm is very user friendly and allow you to easily add new friends. While discussing with members of the Blackberry Team they all confirmed that the only thing that keep them faithful to their team is bbm. So now you understand how hard it was for me to give up my Blackberry for an Android.

Fortunately other applications such as bbm exist today that allow its users to chat cross platform for free. By cross platform I mean you can instantly chat with Iphone/Blackberry/Android users for free. Did I see say for free??? You can travel oversees and be joinable as long as you have data (not necessarily a data plan).

Thanks to some awesome developers, a similar and even better application emerged that I can use on my Android. By now you are probably wondering what application I am using on my android… To end the suspense here it is: PingChat. PingChat has over 2 million users and its base of users is rapidly growing. I tested the application today with my sister who owns an Iphone and it worked perfectly well. I am very happy and hoping that my friends will install this app whether they use a Blackberry, an Iphone or an Android. PingChat is totally different than IM. Don’t confuse it with MSN, AIM or Yahoo messenger. PingChat is the only cross platform application available. I tried Whatsapp but it is not yet available for Android users. Since I am not very patient I decided to look around and found PingChat.

Give it a try!!! My id is cnabe. Feel free to add me and to test it.

European Championships in Barcelona

July 27th, 2010 Cedric Nabe No comments

The European Championships started today. For those of you who expected to see me run, it won’t happen this year. My injuries prevented me from running at a competitive level. So today I was forced to watch the heats of the 100M from my couch. It does feel kind of weird not to be there but it just motivates me to get stronger, and train harder for next year. The world championships will take place in Daegu next summer. I will be there in the best of my shape ready to take over this game. In the meantime I am enjoying my free time with my family while chasing my dreams. Look out for Notelog.com and more to come in the next few weeks.

P.S: good luck to the Swiss and French teams in Barcelona.

Fatherhood

When she was born, my heart stopped beating for a little bit… Almost as if i was getting a heart attack. She was so little and looked so fragile that I was scared to carry her. She looked so innocent and so beautiful. I had never seen anything that amazing in my entire life. It’s as if my life had just started… As if i had been given a new reason to be the best at everything i put my heart into… As if i had been given a new life. Suddenly I felt so important and filled with courage. I had been given one of the best role in the world. I was so young at the time it happened but I understood very clearly the responsibilities that I had been given.

Being a father is a blessing. It’s excuse not to fail or a reason to succeed. It’s a reason to work hard and to never give up
It’s a reason to make the best possible choices because a life depends on you. Today she is 7 years old. Because of some circumstances I don’t get to see her as often as I would like to. I don’t get to spend as much tine with her as I would like to. But i do make sure that every time she hears or sees me she knows that I love her and that I will never let anything happened to her.

How can a man disgrace his own child? I hear too many stories of responsible “fathers” who are the first one to try to get in but can’t assume the consequences of their actions. Yes, I know some men get trapped in unwanted situations. But after it has been proved that the child is yours there is no turning back. There is a life that depends on you. Somebody will always look up to you and need you in their life. How can you disgrace your own genes? Your own flesh? To me those who act that way must not love themselves very much. When I look at my daughter I see myself. So for me not to want to care or be present in that child life I must not have much self-respect and love for myself. It’s not always easy to take care of a child. But as long as you got love for that child that’s all that matters.

Third at Swiss Championships

July 17th, 2010 Cedric Nabe 1 comment

So here it is… I lost my title of Swiss Champion of the 100 meters. I had a season plagued with injuries so it was hard for me to defend my title. I am glad I still managed to place despite my injury (inflammation of the tendons behind both my knees). I am happy with my performance as nobody believed I could make it to the final. Today my legs weren’t in the best of shape but my mental was on point. My mental overcame my injury. I was in pain and people around me could tell that something was wrong but i had no intention on giving up. I was not going to loose my title without a fight. I gave these guys a hard time. I dominated the major part of the race and then they came back on me during the last 40 meters.

I plan on training hard for the next few weeks and competing till September. I want to finish this season in beauty…

Let’s get it!!!
