Leadership is the process by which one individual, with ease of communication, gains the respect and control of a group of people that he will motivate to be more productive. Excellent communication skills are really important when it comes to leadership because it allows the leader to get the attention of his subordinates while persuading them to work efficiently toward a common goal. Good leaders will manage to adapt their leadership style to their subordinates and to different situations. Effective leaders have great influence over their subordinates. There are different styles of leadership that can be recognized among many situations. For example General George S. Patton, Jr. was known to be very rude and pitiless yet, he would not hesitate to show up on the battlefield and fight among his soldiers (this was seen in the movie Patton, directed by Franklin J. Schaffner).
